In the year 2013 Barry King undertook to make a bid to go for a world record for the most matches in a model.

The current world record stands at 4.75 million matches. To beat this record, I have set myself a goal of using 316,000 matches a year, which is 26,388 a month, or 6,597 a week! As I am working full-time, I aim to do 250,000 a year with the ultimate goal of completing the model in 15 to 19 years time. To do this, I have to use at least 744 matches a day!
The model at the moment composes of 800,000 matches. I aim to reach the spire in about 3 to 4 years time.
Most satisfying to Barry is raising money to go towards The Stars Appeal, for the Salisbury District Hospital.
